Canstruction Atlanta Announces 19th Annual Event Design Teams and Sponsors

 September / October 2017 – ATLANTA – Canstruction® Atlanta, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank, today announced its list of design teams and sponsors, who will participate in and contribute to the organization’s 19th annual art and build-out event, resulting in creative structures made of canned food being displayed at three office towers adjacent to Atlantic Station, in Atlanta, Nov. 5-17, 2017.

The competition includes collaboration among individual teams, comprising several of Georgia’s most talented architects, engineers, construction, and design professionals. Each team will design, plan and build a canned food art display, showcasing a unique design concept as a standalone part of the exhibition’s series. The 2017 event design teams include the following:

The design teams will have 10 hours to assemble their structures, and are permitted to use canned goods of all sizes in addition to wood, tape, rubber bands, wire, and Velcro to ensure the finished creations are self-supporting. The creative displays may include iconic landmarks or monuments; space-age robots; popular superheroes and other fictional characters; items related to Atlanta’s burgeoning film industry; and any number of imaginative concepts.

The exhibition will be held at 171, 201 and 271 17th Street NW, Atlanta, and will be open to the general public free of charge seven days a week, Nov. 5-17, 2017, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST.

The role of 2017 sponsors will be to provide financial and in-kind donations to help raise awareness about the need to end hunger in Metropolitan Atlanta. Each sponsor is contributing at one of the following levels: “Elite,” “Corporate,” “Platinum,” “Diamond,” “Gold,” “Silver,” and “Bronze.” The Canstruction Atlanta committee will contribute 100 percent of the proceeds to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
